Seamaiden Lace Pullover

This little number is a modified version of the lace pullover in Vogue Knitting Crochet, 2012 Special Collector's Issue (p. 51).  Revisions include a cropped length with long sleeves, which was achieved with the use of a size E/4 hook and Naturally Caron Spa yarn in Misty Taupe. Catch the wave, fellow Seamaidens!

A Seamaiden's Confection from Creations by Gale

With the water lily and seashell bouquet all wrapped up in fine white feathers and gauzy ribbon, the choice for our wedding cake design was as crystal clear as a tropical sea. The only question left was where to find the cake designer to bring it to refined and delicious fruition.

Creations by Gale concocted a delectable yellow cake with raspberry filling and topped it all off with chocolate seashells, delicate pink pearls and a fanciful fondant water lily. The Seamaster and Seamaiden's guests were truly bowled over by this elegant and decadent dessert!

A Seamaiden's Bouquet by Faye Daniel Designs

Along with my fashionable fish scale dress, the design of my bouquet was the essence of my Seamaiden's Dream theme of a wedding. When I approached Randie McConnell, proprietor of Faye Daniel Designs, with the concept of making the fantasy and whimsy of the Seamaiden an aesthetic reality, the inspiration of one of my favorite works in the collection of the Walters Art Museum was foremost in my thoughts. Flowers by a Pond with Frogs by Giuseppe Recco is an exquisite rendering of cultivated tulips in a naturalistic setting, which, of course, is pure fancy.

My bouquet, likewise, would need to marry the water lily of the wishgiver mermaid, who resides in the stillest of ponds, to the seashells of the spellsinger mermaid, who mesmerizes the sailors of the open ocean. I think the Seamaster would say his Seamaiden bride magically embodies the somewhat incongruent attributes of each of these mers. Brava to Randie and Faye Daniel Designs for conjuring all these seemingly paradoxical qualities in one resplendent bouquet.

The Seamaiden Took the Plunge

Well, the Seamaiden is now officially Mrs. Seamaster. We pulled off the wedding of our watery dreams on Halloween and have been lazing and loving the days away on a romantic honeymoon. I promise to get back to blogging about all the sea-riffic stuff in Bel Air and beyond after the Turkey Day holidays. In the meantime, enjoy this lovely shot of Mr. and Mrs. Seamaster courtesy of Pamela Harvey Photography.
